4) Arts on the Move - - Graffiti program
Do you love art? Working with kids? Take advantage of this great social action opportunity!
Come to a graffiti-making workshop run by artist Dani Mozeson! We will teach pediatric patients how to create stencils in order to tag and personalize their wheelchairs. This fantastic project is available for 15 Columbia/Barnard students, who will help facilitate the workshop and work one-on-one with Mozeson beforehand to formulate their own designs.
There will be a mandatory info session with Mozeson on Wednesday, September 10th at 8:00pm at Hillel. The workshop itself will take place on Friday, September 19th at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian. We will meet at Hillel to go together. (Exact timing TBD – the event will likely be from late morning to early afternoon).
To sign up for this exciting two-part program, email Chanel at cd2303@columbia.edu. Spots are limited!
This program is a partnership between Arts on the Move and Columbia/Barnard Hillel. For more information on Arts on the Move, visit http://www.avodaarts.org/index.php?page=programs-arts-on-the-move.
5) Opening Meeting of Avanim – Hillel's Literary Magazine
Do you love to write? Do you often find yourself writing about things that are close to your heart, such as your Jewish experiences or time you've spent in Israel? Do you express yourself through photography or drawing or painting?
Avanim is a Jewish publication for Columbia/Barnard/JTS students to express themselves through writing and art — a forum where Jewish writers and artists can share their work with other Jewish students, as well as with the Jewish and overall campus community.
Come on out to our first meeting of the year on Sunday, September 14th at 7:30 in Bishop Library on the second floor of the Kraft Center to discuss ways to get involved with this wonderful publication and bounce around program ideas for the upcoming semester.
