2) UNSETTLED film screening
Join us for a screening of UNSETTLED on Monday 11/19. For young Israelis, the summer of 2005 will change the meaning - and for some the very location - of home. Told in their words and from their perspectives, UNSETTLED is about being young and on the front lines of a conflict where the lines are blurred, in a society where the first battle for peace is fought at home.
Monday, November 19th
7:30 pm, 202 Altschul, Barnard
The film will be followed by a question and answer session with the filmmakers.
3) Tzedek Speaker Series
"Three in a Million:" Documentary Screening and Discussion
In 2006, Maital Guttman, a recent college graduate, traveled to South Africa where she worked in a township with a 25% HIV prevalence rate.
Though the township has one of the highest rates of HIV in the world, few people are open about their HIV status for fear of being discriminated against. But, a group of high school students have decided to change this. They create "Hero Books," a form of art therapy where they become the heroes of their own stories, their own lives. Guttman's short documentary shows three of these heroes, their stories, their problems, and eventually emerge as their own heroes.
Come see the film and meet the filmmaker!
